X n Y chromosomes are homologous chromosomes, they are indeed different but share some homologous sequences and save the same main purpose, sex determination, that is y they r called homologous chromosomes. they do pair up during mitosis and even cross over during meiosis but they are never held at the centromere. only sister chromatids are held at the centromere. Q. My math class is asking me to tell if, in an equation like -2x + 4y=7, y is a linear function of x. I understand that there will only be one value for each variable if it is linear, but is there a way to tell when I convert it to slope-intercept if it is linear or not without having to graph it?
